HPLC 3D Virtual Instrument Laboratory

Practice the operating logic of a pharmaceutical HPLC system in an interactive 3D environment. Work through startup, priming, column handling, method setup, equilibration, detector readiness, system suitability, sample analysis, CDS review and common fault scenarios.

What makes this different from a static HPLC lesson?

This training tool is built around cause and effect. Controls are not decorative: operating choices change instrument state, readiness, pressure, detector response, chromatographic behavior, system-suitability outcome and whether a sample result can be treated as reportable in the training scenario.

What You Can Practice

Instrument StartupPower-up, solvent inspection, purge-path handling, priming and pump readiness.
Column & Oven HandlingOpen the oven, install or remove the column, close the oven and understand readiness interlocks.
Method SetupWork with flow, wavelength, oven temperature, injection volume and mobile-phase composition.
Detector ReadinessUse lamp warm-up, equilibration and autozero before analytical injection.
System SuitabilityRun and review a fictional training SST using resolution, tailing, plate count, S/N and pressure behavior.
Sample & CDS ReviewLoad vials, run the sequence, view chromatograms, inspect results and review the training audit trail.

Two Training Modes

Guided Training

Follow the instrument workflow step by step. The simulator highlights the relevant control and explains what the action does, why it matters and what state is expected next.

Free Practice

Operate the system without a fixed sequence. Correct and incorrect choices create different instrument states, allowing you to explore consequences and troubleshoot the run.

Training Workflow

The generic training workflow is intentionally structured like an operator exercise rather than a passive animation:

Power → solvent inspection → purge/prime → column installation → method setup → analytical flow → UV lamp warm-up → equilibration → autozero → vial loading → SST → explicit SST review → sample run → CDS/result review

Fault & Troubleshooting Practice

The simulator includes training faults so the user can see how abnormal conditions affect readiness or the analytical outcome. Scenarios include examples such as an air bubble, blocked frit, leak, empty solvent, column-direction deviation, carryover and wrong-vial selection.

Important training principle:
A chromatogram is not reviewed in isolation. Instrument condition, sequence control, system suitability, sample identity, method settings and the data trail all contribute to whether a result is scientifically usable.

Who Is This For?

  • QC analysts learning the operating sequence of an HPLC system.
  • Pharmaceutical-science students who want an interactive instrument view rather than a diagram alone.
  • QA or laboratory reviewers who want to understand where instrument-state and data-review decisions arise.
  • New laboratory personnel preparing for supervised practical training.

Educational scope: PQS HPLC 3D Virtual Instrument Laboratory is an original interactive training tool developed for Pharma Quality System. The method values, acceptance criteria, timings and scenarios inside the simulator are fictional training examples. The simulator does not replace approved laboratory SOPs, instrument-vendor instructions, equipment qualification, method-specific requirements or supervised hands-on training.
