Dissolution Tester 3D Virtual Instrument Laboratory
The goal is not to memorize button sequences. The simulator connects instrument preparation, method conditions, physical setup, timing, sampling and study review so the learner can see how procedural choices affect a dissolution run.
What You Can Practice
Guided Training vs Free Practice
Follow a structured sequence with prompts, interlocks and competency feedback. This mode is best for learning the intended workflow and understanding why each preparation step matters.
Operate the instrument more freely, apply custom method conditions, inject training faults and observe how configuration and procedural choices influence the resulting study record.
Training Workflow
- Power the dissolution tester and establish the water bath.
- Select and apply the training method.
- Prepare the six vessels with dissolution medium.
- Equilibrate and verify the six vessel-medium temperatures.
- Load dosage units according to the selected apparatus workflow.
- Start the accelerated dissolution run.
- Collect samples at the scheduled timepoints.
- Review the frozen study record, unit profiles and training deviations.
Scientific Scope of the Training Methods
The simulator includes two clearly fictional PQS reference methods so learners can practice both basket and paddle workflows. The numerical method conditions and response model are educational examples rather than product-specific compendial procedures. FDA resources identify USP Apparatus 1 (basket) and Apparatus 2 (paddle) as commonly used for immediate-release solid oral dosage forms, and describe 37 ± 0.5 °C as a standard dissolution-test temperature for immediate-release dosage forms.
| Training method | Apparatus | Speed | Volume | Temperature | Endpoint |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| DS-01 | USP 2 Paddle | 50 rpm | 900 mL | 37.0 °C | 30 min |
| DS-02 | USP 1 Basket | 100 rpm | 900 mL | 37.0 °C | 30 min |
The simulator's fictional acceptance example uses Q = 75% and an S1 training threshold of Q + 5% = 80% for each of six units. This is included to teach staged interpretation logic; it is not a universal specification for pharmaceutical products.
Who This Tool Is For
This virtual instrument is designed for pharmaceutical QC analysts, formulation and analytical-development staff, students, trainees and professionals who want a practical introduction to dissolution-test workflow before or alongside supervised instrument training.
